Two Ravens on the Standard is the debut album from Guy Warner: eleven tracks of gothic Viking folk, built on deep gravel vocals, war drums, and a war band that answers back.
The record follows one arc: the family that starts it, the empire built and lost, the call that went unanswered, and the rebuilding that follows. Family opens it. The light goes out at the end.
Eleven tracks, arranged by tempo. Family opens the record; the light goes out at the end.

The opening track, and the first single.
Rewritten and renamed from the original opener: a man at sea, looking for himself.
Two chairs at the table, their places kept warm.
Built the empire, was exiled from it in April, and walked out to build again.
The Exiled Chief, second take. Same words, no restraint.
The happy one. A far-from-home ballad for Delilah of Bobby Juniors: harbor lights, a seat kept warm by the fire, and a dance saved for when Halloween comes round again.
The tender one. A first dance outside a bar, a winter birthday, an October wedding, and two daughters.
The betrayal song. He answered every call that ever came over the water. When his own call went out, the road stayed empty.
The ode. Two men found each other at the bottom of their own wars, when both of their whole lives were changing, and stood in each other's shield line. Brothers beyond blood.
The counting song. A man alone in the warehouse at night, taking stock of what is left of him and what the empire still holds. Muninn is the raven of memory, and memory keeps the books.
The closing track.
